I am excited to announce that on the evenings of August 1st and 2nd, I will be reading with the creators of Potter and Garp at Radio City Music Hall. This came about because two good people agreed with me that it might be possible to do one gigantic reading to benefit two charities. One is Doctors Without Borders an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries, The Haven Foundation, a charity that supports writers and artists who can no longer support themselves because of accidents or illness. We are doing this at Radio City Music Hall because it is the biggest, brightest venue we could find and we are hoping we can fill it on both nights. We hope to see you there--this is going to be very cool!

On Thursday, August 10 and Friday, August 11. MSN will stream the event at http://video.msn.com, and beginning on Saturday, August 12 until the end of the month, highlights will be available on demand. MSN will enable viewers to make contributions to The Haven Foundation and Doctors Without Borders.
"AN EVENING WITH HARRY, CARRIE & GARP" was presented last week and brought together bestselling authors J.K. Rowling, Stephen King and John Irving and a star-studded line-up of presenters including Kathy Bates, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Robbins and Stanley Tucci. The authors each read selections from their own works and answered questions from the audience with CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien moderating.
Proceeds from the readings benefit two non-profit organizations: The Haven Foundation, which helps freelance performing artists and writers whose accidents or illnesses have left them unable to work www.thehavenfdn.org, and Doctors Without Borders/ Medecins San Frontieres (MSF), the international independent medical humanitarian organization www.doctorswithoutborders.org.
Presenting sponsors Scholastic and Simon & Schuster/CBS Corporation were joined by media sponsor MSN and co-sponsors SONY, TNT and Warner Bros. as well as Creative Artists Agency and Disney-ABC Television Group.
